titleWhat happens to my additional storage if I delete my virtual machine?

If your virtual machine is deleted, by default all its additional storage will be deleted too.

But you can mark your additional storage volumes for keeping so that they can be automatically added to the next virtual machine you create. To do this, just make sure to tick the checkboxes against the additional volumes that you’d like to keep in the pop-up window where you confirm the deletion of the VM.

Note

Note: There are some limitations around this auto-adding feature:

  • It only works with machines created inside the same resource type (i.e. you delete a VM inside a particular resource, without deleting the resource itself, then you just create a new VM inside of it).

  • The new VM has to be of the same operating system as the original one.
