Requesting tokens
You can now use the token portal to request and manage the tokens you use with clients such as smb, unimelb-mf-clients etc.
Step 1
Login to the portal at https://mediaflux.researchsoftware.unimelb.edu.au/token-portal/ and then click on the tokens icon
Viewing and searching your tokens -
You can view your tokens as a list with the token name and description visible on the left side.
On the right hand side is a more detailed view of the token info including the network type(smb, sftp and http) and ip address restrictions
You can also extend the list tab to the right to view more info as a list.
You can click on the filters icon on the top left to search your tokens by the token name(which is auto created on token creation), description, network and ip restrictions as well as validity:
Adding token roles
Click on the roles tab on the right hand side to view and manage the token roles:
Click on the add button at the bottom to add roles to the existing token:
Select the role from available list(which consists of all access roles up to the role you have on a project, so if you have write access, you can request either write or read access for your token) and click add again to confirm. The permission is now added to the token.
Note: It may take a few minutes for role change to reflect
Removing token roles:
To remove a role(s) select the role or roles you need to remove and click on the remove button at the bottom, then click remove again when prompted to confirm this:
Creating a new token
Click on the create button at the top left above your list of existing tokens and you will see a create dialogue pop up-
You need to set a description for the token.
You can also set an expiry date, but that is optional.
Other optional restrictions can by set by clicking on the dropdown boxes and:
protocol restrictions - clicking a checkbox next to the protocol name will mean the token can only be accessed via that protocol(Eg: a check next to SMB means the token can't be accessed via http).
ip restrictions - you can enter a comma separated list of the ip addresses that can use the token, the ip addresses need to be static and not dynamic as dynamic ips are dynamically assigned to pcs on each login to the network, you can also specify a network mask for the ip address - eg 1.1.1.1/24 is an ip with a network mask
Once done, click create, the token will then be emailed to the address associated with your mediaflux account(usually your uni email for staff and students).
Do note that only 5 tokens can be requested via the token portal in total, if you need more tokens, you will then need to request it manually through service now or delete some portal created tokens.
Note: It may take a few minutes for you to be able to login with the token
Deleting a token
You can click on the delete icon on the lower end of the token summary tab in the actions row on the right side:
You will be asked to confirm the deletion before it's actually deleted. Note that if you are going to not use a token temporarily it may be better to just remove all the project roles from the token.
