Managing User Access
DaRIS uses Role-Based Access Control to manage user access permissions.
DaRIS Project Roles (Access Levels)
Each DaRIS project defines a set of hierarchical roles that determine the level of access granted to users within the project.
Role | Description | Inherited Permissions |

Project Administrator | Has full access and administrative control over the project, including user management and project administration. | Includes all permissions granted to a Subject Administrator |
Subject Administrator | Has access to both public and private metadata. This role is typically assigned to users responsible for participant or subject recruitment. | Includes all permissions granted to a Member |
Member | Has access to all public metadata and all associated content files within the project. | Includes all permissions granted to a Guest |
Guest | Has read-only access to public metadata and content files within the project. | None |
Managing User Access Through Project Roles
Users can be assigned one or more project roles to determine:
Which projects they can access
Their level of access within each project
A user can have access to multiple projects in DaRIS, with different project roles (access levels) assigned for each project.
In the DaRIS web portal, Project Administrators can grant or revoke access to a project by assigning or removing project roles for users.
