Installing NVivo 20 on a Windows RCP VM

STEP 1: Creating a Researcher Desktop or Research Server machine

  1. Login to RCP (Note that you need to be connected to the University's VPN when accessing the Portal off campus).

  2. Follow RCP’s on-screen instructions and create a Windows Researcher Desktop or Research Server.

  3. Click “Open“ and download the .rdp file from the RCP.

Mac Users: You need to have the Windows App (aka Microsoft Remote Desktop Client). You can Install it from Self Service.app or the Mac App Store.

  1. Login using your UoM credentials.

STEP 2: Installing NVivo 20 on the machine

  1. Look up “Software Center” from the Start Menu.

 

  1. Click and Open “Software Center“.

     

  2. Search for 'Nvivo' in the search bar.

  3. Click on “QSR NVivo 20.6.1.113“ then click Install.

     

  4. Let the installation complete, it may take a few minutes.

     

  5. Once the installation is complete you may be able to locate the new NVivo icon in the Start Menu. Open the application.

     

STEP 3: Installing the UoM NVivo License

  1. Once you open the application, you may be presented with the following screen to enter the license.

License key embedded in the installer might not work, if so, replace the license key as shown below.

  1. Obtain the latest license key from here. You need to choose the key for NVivo for Windows/Mac.

  2. Click “Replace License Key“, enter the new license key obtained from previous step, and click “Next“.

     

  3. You will be presented with the following screen.
