Store and share your data on a specialised object storage system specifically designed to integrate with S3 compatible APIs and software.

Our Object Storage (S3-compatible) service provides S3-style access to files, typically through either a Rest API or a dedicated S3 client program. 

Supported S3 features

Our system is powered by Ceph’s RADOS Gateway (RGW), rather than relying on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This means that we offer many of the great features that Amazon does, but there are a handful of RESTful S3 API calls that aren’t supported. Suitability

Important: This storage system requires special assumed knowledge and is designed for specific applications. If you’re just looking for a general use research data storage solution, please see our Mediaflux service instead. 

S3-Compatible Object Storage differs widely from more traditional forms of file storage (eg. shared network drives). So we only recommended using it when: 

  • you're using a service (or piece of software) that's been specifically written for the S3 API 

  • you're familiar with S3 storage environments and don’t require any assistance understanding or using them
