Transactional Namespace Naming Convention

For reference, the complete form of the transaction parent namespace into which data are uploaded is: <date>_<time>-<ID>-<N>-<Platform Suffix>-<User Suffix> where

  • <date>_<time> is the date and time of the youngest file uploaded (not the date of the upload)
  • <ID> is the identifier of the upload sharable used for this transaction (useful for admin purposes only)
  • <N> is the number of times the upload shareable has been used for upload (useful for admin purposes)
  • <Platform Suffix> is an additional identifying suffix string.  If the platform upload shareable has been so configured, then this static string is always inserted into the name.  It is generally used to specific the name of the platform/instrument.
  • <User Suffix> is an additional identifying suffix string. If the platform upload shareable has been so configured,  then the person uploading the data with the DataMover GUI has the opportunity to specify this additional identifying String.  It is generally used to additionally identify the particular upload, for example, the name of the person acquiring the data, or a keyword relevant to the acquisition subject.  This string will also be set as a keyword on the manifest asset.
