Web Portal Access
1. Recommended Browsers
To access DaRIS web portal, we recommend Firefox on Windows/Linux/Mac.
DaRIS web portal integrates with Arcitecta Desktop Integration(DTI) Java applet (to access the local file system, to compress and upload large files or directories). Therefore, Java needs to be installed to access those functions.
The DTI Java applet launches a local daemon/agent to serve the browser sessions and it is considered as mixed content for the browser session. By default, mixed content is blocked in the browser. See how to resolve Java DTI applet issues in DaRIS web portal.
Also we have made some youtube videos show how to access DaRIS portal using Firefox and Safari.
2. DaRIS Web Portal URL
The web portal URL is of the form:
- If mediaflux serves on standard HTTPS port 443:
- If mediaflux serves on non-standard HTTPS port 8443:
Substitute the server address you are using for your-mediaflux.org.
2.1. Turn off DTI Java applet
If you do not need to use the functions relies on DTI, e.g uploading local files or directories, you can turn it off by appending ?dti=no parameter to the URL then Java will not be required.
3. DaRIS Login
When you access the portal, you will be presented with the login screen:
If you check the “Remember me” box it will remember your (Mediaflux authentication) domain and username for next time.
4. Exceptions
4.1. Self-signed SSL certificate
If your Mediaflux server uses a self-signed certificate, the browser, e.g. Firefox may prompt security warning message about “Untrusted connection”. You can proceed and add exception for the Mediaflux web site.
4.2. Blocked DTI Java applet
DTI Java applet is blocked by default. And it is now only supported by Firefox. The browser will prompt warning message to ask if you want to allow it to run. Select Allow to enable the DTI Java applet.
4.3. Blocked Mixed Content
DTI Java applet launches a daemon/agent to serve the browser sessions. And it is considered mixed content. Mixed content is blocked by browsers. See /wiki/spaces/RCS/pages/4591216.
5. Security
There are a number of security layers to protect the system. Your DaRIS/Mediaflux administrator will have set up our system and considered the use of server firewall, Mediaflux IP restrictions, Mediaflux intrusion detection, whitelists and black lists.
If you cannot log into DaRIS web portal, it may be caused by the security settings on the Mediaflux server. You need to contact your DaRIS/Mediaflux administrator to find out.
6. Data Viewers
DaRIS web portal can view DICOM, NIFTI and other browser supported image formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, GIF).
